VPI has been excited to demonstrate the Raidho TD4.2 in the VPI House but even more excited to be part of this exciting debut of their Raidho TD2.2 at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest!
From the good people at Raidho:
Time for the next step in the evolution – introducing the Raidho TD2.2.
Visit Us in Room 10134
We are extremely proud to introduce the new TD2.2 to the world. This model carries on the legacy of the well-acclaimed D2.1, and taking the beautiful exterior to the next level. The TD2.2 is our bid for the new benchmark in it´s class, and we are certain that it will surprise audiophiles around the world when they hear, what this compact floorstander can do.
After months of hard work, the initial tuning of the TD2.2 are finished, and it follows the rest of the new TD-series with the use of our new, in-house developed, in-house built, patented driver with one of the strongest underhung systems in the world with 1.1 tesla in the gap. The drivers use our new 5-layer Tantalum-Diamond cone with higher inner damping, and a new, proprietary, edgewound titanium voicecoil.
To fit our new tech to the cabinets, we had to change everything inside to create optimal airflow, remove unwanted reflections, and eliminate distortion caused by the typical limitations in cabinetdesigns.
The TD2.2 is a 2 ½ way system based on our new TD quasi-ribbon tweeter which was first introduced in the topmodel, TD4.8. The tweeter already were a world class tweeter, but by running through the design and optimizing the acoustic shape of the rear chamber, we achieved to lower the distortion, which was already very low, by a staggering 35 dB, and at the same time increasing the sensitivity by 3 dB.
These technical design-changes made it possible to match the tweeter with the extreme sensitivity, that our new drivers holds. With careful design of the new crossover, which is built in hand and hardwired with topclass components, the initial trimming of the TD2.2, has given us a speaker that measures at a record low distortion-level, and it´s audible immediately after pushing play. Due to the higher efficiency in the whole system, the TD2.2 also is an easy load for any amplifier, and they will unleash all the potential from your electronics.
The TD2.2 is the natural full-size step-up from the TD1.2, and it will deliver a dynamic, natural, and extremely musical performance. This, while at the same time moving the limits for powerhandling in an elegant and still compact floorstanding speaker. The TD2.2 is the floorstanding answer for those seeking the signature-sound from the TD-series, but keeping it in a compact and elegant design with great attention to detail, both visual and technical.
This a reference-product giving a true-to-life sound with an almost limitless soundstage, allowing the speakers to disappear, and putting the music in focus.
We present to you the Raidho Acoustics TD2.2 - This is the speaker for the music-lover.
VPI is excited and proud to be providing an HW-40 Direct Drive Anniversary turntable with mounted Van den Hul cartridge for Raidho's introduction! This has been a combination that has had fantastic synergy with great sound in the VPI House.
It is that time of year again to pack up your things fend off the cold weather and fly out for the best fest! When listening to great music you have to have great partners and this year VPI is teaming up with their friends at Alta Audio, Krell Industries, Audio-Technica, and ZenSati.
Alta Audio will feature a feature a sneak peek at its new Alec, a new standard in top-end performance in small-to-midsize rooms. The two-way Alec, which will ship in September, achieves imaging that is natural and sonically accurate, performing at a level that is comparable to speakers that cost twice as much.
Also from Alta will be the Celesta FRM-2M, an update of its acclaimed full-range monitor, with engineering that features an advanced-technology design housed in an ultra-hard, ultra-high gloss polyester finished cabinet with both modern and retro design elements, including upgraded cabling, new conductors and capacitors, a new magnetic grille, and next-level DampHard material that helps to create an acoustically dead, resonance-free speaker.
Krell Audio will demonstrate the Illusion II preamplifier and Duo 300 XD two-channel 300-watt power amplifier. The Illusion II is Krell’s centerpiece for a world-class stereo system, featuring a dual monaural design with the left and right channels afforded their own power supply regulation and individual circuit boards.
The Duo 300 XD features Krell Class A Bias Technology, a patent-pending circuit that delivers Class A operation without the excessive heat and wasted energy of conventional designs, resulting in sonics that are open and unconstrained. Also, on hand will be Krell’s k300i integrated amp in a static display.
VPI Industries will showcase its 40th anniversary HW-40, a new direct-drive turntable that features updated direct-drive motor technology, incorporating advances in motion control and materials technologies. Complementing the HW-40 will be Audio-Technica’s AT-ART1000 moving-coil phono cartridge and the AT-SUT1000 MC step-up transformer. The company will also present its flagship ATH-ADX5000 open-air headphones and ATH-AP2000Ti audiophile headphones. (a model that VPI owner Mat Weisfeld personally uses while gaming when not making turntables!)
Yes, VPI CEO Shyla will be in attendance to make sure the room is properly set-up and calibrated.
Rounding out the room will be ZenSati’s Zorro series of cables, designed to let electrons work freely in insulation surrounded by pure air, with no PVC materials, allowing signals to flow intact over long distances.
VPI is very excited for another all American team up at Rocky Mountain Audiofest thanks to our friends at Nordost! They will be featuring multiple products as well their new QPOINT and QSOURCE. In addition there will be equipment from VTL, YG Acoustics, Lyra, and more! The HW-40 Anniversary Direct Drive Table will be spinning in full force with the Lyra Etna Cartridge, a VPI favorite!
Make sure to swing by the Homestead 1 room at the Gaylord Resort Hotel and experience the music and fantasitc partnership of quality manufacters.

Distinctive Stereo LLC is delighted to announce a special event featuring Gary L. Koh, Chief Designer and CEO of Genesis Advanced Technologies, to be held on Saturday, September 14th, 2019, beginning at noon. Genesis is extremely successful in the growing Asian market for high-end U.S.-made products, and Distinctive Stereo is thrilled to bring the brand home to the U.S. market.
Gary will introduce the music that influenced his designs, bringing some of his "unobtainium" stash of recordings, as well as test pressings of music of the direct-to-disc recording that he made in Bernie Grundman's Studio. For those who have never heard a direct-to-lacquer, it is as close as one can get to being a fly on the wall of a recording studio during a live session. An acetate lacquer has a limited number of plays before it deteriorates so it will be played only once - DON'T BE LATE or you will miss it. Gary will also tell us about the designs of his speakers and electronics.
Our second guest will be Mat Weisfeld, who will discuss the new HW-40 Direct Drive turntable – so named in honor of VPI’s 40th anniversary – and other exciting events on the horizon at VPI.
Last but not least, we will also be joined by Merrill Wettasinghe of Merrill Audio Technologies, who will speak about his new line of gallium nitride-based Element series of amplifiers, and other new Merrill Audio products that will soon be launched.
A partial equipment list is as follows:
- Genesis Maestro loudspeakers
- Genesis phonostage
- VPI HW-40 turntable, with a van den Hull cartridge
- Merrill Audio Christine linestage preamplifier
- Merrill Audio Element 116 monoblock amplifiers
Lunch will be served. Please RSVP either by E-mail at email@example.com, or by telephone at (201) 391-1411.

One of the exciting parts of VPI is traveling to meet with and visit VPI partners/distributors. For most manufactures in the high-end industry there is an “Asia Tour” around this time of year due to the scheduling of multiple shows around Asia at the same time. The schedule VPI tries to keep is the Malaysian, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Taiwan Show while visiting other countries in between for mini events. Last year we missed the whole tour due to the addition to our family (Shyla being born) and this year we condensed the trip since dragging a 17 month old around Asia is never a great idea and I didn’t want to be gone too long.
This year the Thailand and Hong Kong show were selected since they were one weekend apart and a visit to our Japanese and Vietnamese distributors were scheduled in between. The Malaysian and Taiwan Show are still on but minus having someone from VPI out there for this year (shooting for next year we still love you guys also!) This year was also important being our 40th Anniversary year and wanting to get ourselves and the HW-40 Limited Anniversary Direct drive table out in front of as many people as possible.
To organize and give each country the proper attention they deserve, I’m going to break up each visit into their own post so we can dig deeper in what has been happening in Asia. Also a welcome treat is being able to meet international VPI owners and music enthusiast while having a chance to listen to equipment we don't usually have a chance to demo. From bombings, to riots, to musical bliss... this trip had more packed in than an action movie!
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
